The Premier League returns this weekend, with Chelsea and Bournemouth set to meet at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Neither side entered the pause on a positive note, with both suffering defeats in their final games before the international break, and they will be targeting a winning return to action.
The Xabi Alonso era at Chelsea got off to a blistering start as the Blues kicked off the new season with three consecutive wins under their new Spanish head coach. However, they suffered a 2-1 defeat to champions Arsenal on matchday three and have since toiled for points in the English top flight, with the Blues' leaky defense leading them into all sorts of trouble.
Chelsea, who have not played a game outside London all season, continued their stay in the capital just before the break, heading to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford. Very little separated the two teams in the opening hour of the contest before Alonso's men capitulated, losing 3-0 to extend their barren streak at the Gtech to five matches.
Bournemouth are also under new leadership, having appointed Marco Rose as head coach following the departure of Andoni Iraola to Merseyside. Despite wins in the EFL Cup and the Europa League, the Cherries are yet to get going in the league as they continue to search for their first victory.
Following three consecutive draws from matchday two to four, Bournemouth hosted Liverpool last time out, with Iraola returning to a ground where he is revered. A cagey affair ensued at the Vitality Stadium, with clear-cut chances in short supply for both sides before Alexander Isak's effort consigned the Cherries to a 1-0 defeat.

Bournemouth's last win at Stamford Bridge came in December 2019, when a late winner from Dan Gosling sealed a 1-0 victory over Chelsea. That result, however, remains the Cherries' last victory in this fixture.
While Chelsea boast the third-best attacking record in the division so far with 10 goals, they also have the worst defensive record, having conceded 12 goals.
