Persistent links to Bayern Munich’s mercurial winger Michael Olise are encouraging for Liverpool fans, who dream of seeing the Frenchman at Anfield.
The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the world’s best players, with many fans backing him to be named the best footballer of 2026 when the Ballon d’Or winner is announced on 26 October.
Wait for Zidane's reaction ?

One thing is clear: Olise is the only player – alongside Barcelona star and the other Ballon d’Or favourite Lamine Yamal – who could replace Mohamed Salah with minimal difference in performance.
The Egyptian superstar scored 257 goals for Liverpool across nine years, and Olise has 50 goals and 58 assists for Bayern since joining the Bavarians in 2023. Last season, he scored 22 and assisted 31, with eight goals and four assists in seven games this season already.
He’s rated at about €180m (£152m), so signing him will require something in the realm of a miracle from FSG, 1892 Holdings and sporting director Julian Ward.
Ward replaced Richard Hughes as the club’s chief negotiator, so it will be interesting to see how his second spell as the club’s sporting director will compare to Hughes’ tenure and his first run in the role in 2022.
Liverpool FC can confirm Julian Ward has been appointed the club’s sporting director.

Liverpool are one of three clubs in close contact with Michael Olise’s agents for a 2027 transfer to the Premier League
A bombshell on Wednesday linked Liverpool with an audacious move to sign Kylian Mbappe, but somehow signing Michael Olise appears to be the more realistic claim.
Today, according to ITK Space on X, who has proven incredibly reliable for world exclusives in the transfer space – pardon the pun – Liverpool are in close contact with Olise’s reps.
He reports: “Michael Olise’s representatives have been in contact behind the scenes with three clubs, namely Liverpool Football Club, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, while Manchester City also approached his camp several months ago only to be informed that the feeling was simply not mutual, with Olise showing little desire to enter that conversation and City consequently deciding to walk away.
“LFC meanwhile are understood to have already completed much of the groundwork behind the scenes and there are figures within leading agencies who increasingly believe England’s grandest institution have quietly manoeuvred themselves into pole position should Michael ultimately decide that the moment has arrived to leave Munich.”
The report is a lengthy one, but goes on to say that Bayern are beginning to accept that Olise has “little appetite” to stay at the Allianz Arena, with a 2027 exit now looking more and more likely.
