The Tampa Bay Buccaneers claimed their first win of the season in nail-biting fashion, upsetting the Dallas Cowboys, 24-16, at AT&T Stadium on Thursday Night Football.

Alex Anzalone sealed the win by intercepting Dak Prescott's pass to Jake Ferguson with only a minute left in the game to shock the packed crowd, including Jerry Jones, who looked stunned in his special suite.

The Buccaneers ended their four-game losing skid and handed the Cowboys another painful loss. Dallas dropped to 2-3, including 1-2 at home.

Anzalone, who also had five tackles and one quarterback hit, prevented any endgame surprise from the Cowboys

Jalon Daniels, filling in again for Baker Mayfield, went 19-of-25 for 189 yards and one touchdown, while Bucky Irving had 21 carries for a career-high 165 yards and one touchdown. Irving also scored on a five-yard reception in the second quarter.

Mayfield, who is nursing a thumb injury, could be sidelined at least one more game.

The Cowboys have not won back-to-back this season. Prescott went 24-of-42 for 316 yards, one touchdown, and two picks.

Dallas played without Joey Porter Jr., who was a late scratch due to stomach issues.

The victory could be a catalyst for the Buccaneers, who entered the season with high optimism, to go on a surge. Before facing the Cowboys, A'Shawn Robinson reiterated that they were far from throwing in the towel despite their horrendous start.

“The season isn’t over. You can't lose and be out of the playoffs in four games,” said Robinson.

The Buccaneers will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6.
