Liverpool welcome rivals Manchester City to Anfield for a blockbuster Premier League showdown on Monday morning (AEDT).
Club football is back following an extended international window, while all eyes are on visiting league leaders Manchester City amid the fallout of the Premier League giants’ unprecedented financial breaches.
It is City’s first match since the publication of an investigatory panel’s verdict that the Manchester-based outfit artificially inflated revenue by more than $1 billion AUD from 2009-18 to circumvent financial fair-play rules that restricted rival clubs.

City were found guilty by the panel of all 80 of the serious financial charges brought by the Premier League and could be hit with severe sanctions, including being expelled from the top-flight. City have lodged an appeal against the findings.
Liverpool, like Erling Haaland’s City, are unbeaten through five rounds but the Reds find themselves six points off the pace in sixth position.
There are also question marks over attacking duo Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo after the pair picked up injuries on international duty during the UEFA Nations League.
