Lakers' Luka Doncic admits what made last season so hard during his most difficult time in life image

The Los Angeles Lakers were led by LeBron James and Luka Doncic last season, but there was just so much going on in Doncic’s personal life. It started out well for the superstar.

Doncic and his fiancée at the time welcomed their second daughter. She was born in December, which caused Doncic to miss a couple of games.

“Luka Doncic announced the birth of his second child -- a daughter, Olivia -- on Instagram on Saturday morning. Doncic, who missed the Los Angeles Lakers' last two games for "personal reasons," had been away from the team and back in his hometown of Ljubljana, Slovenia, to be with his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, for the delivery, sources told ESPN,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin wrote.

Then, a few months later, things got even harder for Doncic. His fiancée filed for a custody battle during the end of the regular season.

“Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has separated from his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, he told ESPN. Sources close to the situation also said Dončić is in a custody battle over their two daughters,” McMenamin wrote.

There is no doubt that all of that was hard and likely took a toll on Doncic. Recently, he revealed that he hardly saw his daughters during the season and that was the hardest part for him last season.

“I didn’t see them almost the whole season. Yea I can’t go another season like that. You wanna spend time with your kids everyday. So last season was pretty hard. I saw them for 5 days in the whole season which is impossible to do. But you know I had to focus on basketball,” Doncic said.

It is hard to imagine all that Doncic was going through, not being able to see his kids while having to do what he does for a living. It undoubtedly took a toll on him, as it was just brutal.

This season, Doncic will be able to look at some things from a better perspective, as he believes he will be able to see his daughters way more. It was challenging last season, no doubt, but now he is looking forward to being able to do things with his kids during the season.
