Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract at Arsenal until the summer of 2030.
The Spaniard’s future at the Emirates Stadium was never really in doubt, but this was a deal Arsenal simply had to get over the line before his terms expired at the end of this season.
Earlier this week, Arsenal confirmed that Arteta had extended his contract, which gives the Gunners a massive boost ahead of what could be their most dominant period in history.
The Kroenkes have often been accused of not spending enough money, but it looks like they have been very generous with Arteta to secure his future.

Mikel Arteta’s salary after signing new Arsenal contract is ‘frightening’
Mikel Arteta was already handsomely paid by Arsenal in his old contract.
The Gunners boss earned £10 million a year with another £5 million in bonuses. That made him one of the best-paid coaches in the world at the time.
Now, after helping Arsenal win the Premier League title after 22 years and taking them to the Champions League final for the first time in two decades, his stock reached an all-time high.
The Kroenkes had to reward him for his achievements in order to keep him happy, and they have done exactly that with his new contract.
Alan Brazil revealed on talkSPORT that Arteta’s new deal will pay him a whopping £20 million a season, excluding bonuses, which makes him the highest-paid manager in the Premier League. Reports elsewhere have claimed that bonuses will take that figure up to £25 million a year.
Then, the host broke that figure down and realised the Arsenal boss will pocket about £70,000 a day. That shocked him.
Brazil said on talkSPORT: “Manager Mikel Arteta has put pen to paper on a new contract keeping him at the club until 2030.
Have a guess how much, you will never guess, never, what a deal this is! He’s already the longest-serving manager in the 92 clubs. He will now earn roughly £20 million a year. £70,000 a day!
“It’s frightening when you put it like that.”
Arsenal gave Mikel Arteta a 140-year-old gift after he extended his contract
It is very clear to see that everyone at Arsenal adores Arteta. From the players and staff to the board and ownership, they all love him.
That was once again evident on the day the Spaniard signed his new deal in front of the cameras.
Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick presented Arteta with his new contract inside a wooden box that is 140 years old. It was created all the way back in 1886, when the club was founded. (Arsenal.com)
Elijah Watkins, Arsenal’s first secretary, was presented with this box at the time. It opens into a writing desk, which then opens into two parts, joined by a hinge to form a sloped surface for paper to rest on.
That’s where Arteta’s new contract was placed when he signed it in front of the cameras earlier this week.
