Curtis Jones is set for a spell on the sidelines after Inter Milan released a statement confirming an injury for the former Liverpool midfielder.
Jones has had a mixed start to life in Italy following his summer move from Anfield. The 25-year-old has made five appearances for Inter, with only two of those coming from the start - one of those coming against former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Champions League.
His short time at the San Siro has also been met with some brutal reviews from the Italian media, and he has now been dealt a further setback ahead of the club’s return to action following the international break.
Inter released a statement on Thursday revealing that Jones had undergone “clinical and instrumental tests” in hospital, which have revealed a myofascial strain in the adductor muscles of his right thigh.
The statement added that “his condition will be reassessed over the coming days”, although reports in Italy are suggesting that Jones is likely to be out for the next three to four weeks.
The injury comes at a bad time for Jones and Inter, with the club facing seven games across Serie A and the Champions League before the end of October, while it almost certainly rules him out of the running for a recall to the England squad for next month’s international break.

It will also force Inter boss Cristian Chivu into a change, with Jones having been handed his first league start in the club’s most recent game, a 2-2 draw at Roma. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Croatia international Petar Sucic is now emerging as the favorite to replace him when Inter faces Parma on Sunday.
Jones’ injury shouldn’t put him in any danger of missing the chance to face his old side though, with Inter set to host Liverpool in the Champions League on January 19.
Speaking last month about his move to the San Siro, Jones said: "I just feel at home with the lads. Since the first day, they've been unbelievable and so I can just be myself.

“Of course I've got a point to prove but I know that if I'm just myself, the lads will like me, the staff and the fans as well.”
He added: "There’s a reason I came here: the phone calls we had, how the team plays, his [Chivu’s] tactical ideas, and how he works every single day.
"It’s the small things he says, things that might seem minor but end up having a massive impact. Plus, he has immense experience and played at the highest level himself. He’s managed the squad brilliantly. He’s ‘one of us,’ and to me, that’s fundamental."
