For the second time this decade, Everton are looking for new owners.
The Friedkin Group looked to be Everton’s saviours when they bought the club from Farhad Moshiri just two years ago, but now, The Friedkins are ready to sell the club already.
The last few months have pointed towards this conclusion. There was a distinct lack of investment in the summer transfer window with a bargain right-back signing and no new striker signed, while it was reported that Everton were seeking new investors after the summer window closed too.
It’s unclear at this point who will come forward and bid for Everton, but there is one multi-billionaire who has made no secret of his admiration for the club and his desire to be involved.

John Textor has already said he wants Everton involvement
Textor has been very open about the fact he would love to buy Everton in the past.
Back in 2024, Textor was in the running to buy the club from Moshiri, and at that time he said (via The Guardian):
“Nobody wakes up and thinks: ‘I get to buy Everton. But if you decide football is what you want in your life and then somebody comes along and asks you if you want to become the owner of Everton, it’s like someone asking you if you want to be president of the United States. Of course you do.”
John Textor issue has been resolved
Textor did have some reservations about buying Everton around that time due to his involvement at Crystal Palace.
However, that is now no longer an issue. Textor sold his shares in Palace in 2025, and, in theory, he should now be free to make an offer for Everton should he wish to.
Of course, a lot can change within two years, and Textor may no longer be interested in buying Everton, but he’s certainly someone to keep an eye on here.
Textor may well be scarred from his previous investments in football – his spells with Lyon, Crystal Palace and Botafogo were all tumultuous to say the least, but as with anyone in high-end business, he may have that drive to now prove a point and show that he can build something special within this sport.
With a reported net worth of $3.4bn, Textor certainly has enough money to put himself in the race to be Everton’s next owner.
