Barcelona are planning to “launch a bid” for Chelsea transfer target Josh King next summer, according to reports.

The Blues, Liverpool and Manchester United are among the Premier League clubs keeping an eye on the 19-year-old, who has been putting in some very impressive performances for Fulham.

However, TEAMtalk claim that Barca could beat others to the punch by making a formal offer for King.

The La Liga champions are said to be really taken with the player, and they believe he has a huge amount of potential.

King has been described as “unbelievable” by his manager

Speaking after the 3-2 defeat to Chelsea back in August, Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa gave a glowing assessment of the teenager’s ability:

“What a player you have here. Amazing. What a player. Unbelievable.”

King scored in the loss to the Blues on the opening day, and he also found the back of the net during another 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace last month. However, despite his displays, his team are struggling at the wrong end of the table.

If the Cottagers do end up being relegated, they would face a fight to keep hold of the attacking midfielder.

Chelsea don’t have room for another No. 10

The Blues may have a hard time persuading King to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, as there isn’t really a space in the starting eleven for him.

Manager Xabi Alonso does play with two no.10s in his front three, which is King’s favoured position, but with the likes of Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers on the club’s books, it’s difficult to see how he would get ahead of them in the pecking order.

Of course, Palmer’s fitness problems could lead to an opening, but even in that instance, Estevao is still waiting in the wings to come into the team.
