The Friedkin Group bought Everton for £400m back in December, 2024, and they have now set the asking price at £800m just 22 months on.

Everton fans are set to undergo another takeover process less than two years on from waving goodbye to Farhad Moshiri. However, the asking price has dramatically increased despite the Toffees failing to achieve European qualification under the Friedkins.

On Friday, it was announced that The Friedkin Group had placed Everton up for sale. It is hardly the news that fans would have hoped for on the back of what has been a promising start to the 2026/27 season for David Moyes and his team.

A report from Paul Joyce has now shared suggestions that the Friedkins are looking to secure £800m for the sale of Everton, which includes the total enterprise value of the club. It is also stated that £380m of that asking price covers debts tied to the club.

Everton narrowly escaped 777 Partners back in 2024 with the Friedkins providing a much better alternative. However, another takeover saga is the last thing Everton supporters would have wished for so soon after seeing Moshiri depart.

The reported asking price could put a lot of strain on finding the next owner of the club. Previously, Vatche Manoukian showed an interest in Everton but the asking price is now double what he and his consortium of bidders were looking to pay.

A fee closing in on £1 billion takes Everton into a completely different stratosphere and would make Everton the second most expensive – not valuable – club in Premier League history, only behind Chelsea’s sale to Todd Boehly.
