Chelsea Hope To Poach Spurs Starlet Who Has Been Described As A“Precious Diamond”By De Zerbi

**Chelsea are among the clubs keeping close tabs on Tottenham attacking midfielder Luca Williams-Barnett, according to reports.**

[_The Sun_](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/40612453/luca-williams-barnett-contract-talks-tottenham/) claim that Spurs have begun talks with the 18-year-old over a new contract, but the Blues and several other teams are watching the situation with interest.

Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be hoping to poach Williams-Barnett if he becomes available.

The [**teenager**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-transfer-news-josh-king/) still has more than 18 months left on his current deal, which is set to expire in the summer of 2028.

What do Chelsea fans need to know about the player?

---------------------------------------------------

Williams-Barnett has come up through Tottenham’s youth ranks, and he has grabbed headlines with his goals at Under 18 and Under 21 level.

Thomas Frank gave the youngster his senior debut as a 16-year-old against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup last season. He played the last few minutes of the 3-0 win in September 2025.

It was almost a whole year before Williams-Barnett was given his second appearance by Roberto De Zerbi, once again in the Carabao Cup. He was given the last 15 minutes of the 5-1 win over Charlton Athletic in August.

Since then, De Zerbi has not named him in the matchday squad, either in the Premier League or the Carabao Cup.

Williams-Barnett has received praise from his manager

Speaking about the midfielder in the summer, De Zerbi said he was excited by his potential:

“He is a precious diamond. We have to work on him in the final third, and he must work hard on his physicality. I’ve worked with a lot of young players in my time, and he’s potentially a special player.”

Chelsea clearly agree with De Zerbi that Williams-Barnett has a big future ahead of him at senior level, but it remains to be seen if he will leave Tottenham in the near future.
