Everton supporters woke up on Friday morning to the news that the club had been put up for sale by The Friedkin Group.

The frustrations of 2024 are potentially set to hit Merseyside once again as The Friedkin Group look for £800m to sell Everton. Their tenure of the club has not even lasted two years as serious questions are being asked about the motives of the Americans.

News of The Friedkin Group’s decision to sell the club comes just hours before David Moyes takes his side to face Hull City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Although the short-term focus remains on the game at MKM Stadium on Sunday, Everton fans have been sharing their thoughts about the takeover development on our TalkingPoints app. Now the news has had time to settle, we have picked out some of the best reactions.

Everton fans left frustrated by The Friedkin Group’s decision to sell

Everton supporters have now had a number of hours to digest the news but it is clear to see that fans are frustrated by the prospect of another takeover debacle.

Callum will be glad to see the back of the Friedkins with their intentions coming under scrutiny after less than two full years on Merseyside.

Meanwhile, P.Molloy236 has taken aim directly at Dan Friedkin. The American owner did not attend a single game at either Goodison Park or the Hill Dickinson Stadium since taking over from Farhad Moshiri back in 2024.

James will also be glad to see the back of the Friedkins. The Everton supporter has been left underwhelmed with the ambition shown during their time on Merseyside. However, a potentially lengthy process lies between the club and their next owner.

Graham is hoping there is something already in the works as far as the next owner is concerned. Again, concerns remain from the fans as to what lies ahead in the short term and how it could impact Moyes and his players.

Moyes’ Everton contract is also hanging in the balance as the 63-year-old is working into the final months of his deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Another takeover process will only raise more concerns from the Everton boss.

Robi is not surprised, though. He feels that the Friedkins have never placed their priorities on Merseyside. Dan and Ryan Friedkin have remained regular attendees at AS Roma games despite making no appearances at Everton.

Another fan, Phillip, also made it clear that he would be pleased to see the back of the Friedkins and for them to return to Roma.

Everton hero Alan Stubbs admitted he’d be glad to see the Friedkins sell up on Merseyside after questioning their ambition since securing the keys back in 2024. All fans can hope for now is a quick sale with the January transfer window now only a matter of months away from opening up. How this could impact Everton on the pitch will be seen on Sunday following what had been a promising start to the campaign.
