If Alonso needed some convincing that Chelsea’s front three can put the Brentford defeat behind them and get back to scoring goals, Rogers’ record against Bournemouth – one of his old sides – can do that.
Indeed, while at Man City, Rogers went on loan to Bournemouth for the 2021-22 season and only played 17 times – scoring just one goal. Now, he is a different animal, and Rogers will want to remain unbeaten.
Chris Sutton predicts Chelsea to beat Bournemouth 3-1
If Rogers’ record against Saturday’s opponents isn’t enough, then Sutton’s prediction should give Alonso the confidence that Chelsea will secure a win. Sutton has backed Chelsea to beat Bournemouth 3-1.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton said: “Chelsea are already turning into a team that are a nightmare to predict – defensively they have got huge issues, but they have got such a talented attack.
“Anything could happen, I was tempted to say Bournemouth will get something out of it. But Cole Palmer will be rested and refreshed, so I am going to base my prediction on how Chelsea’s frontline is clicking.”
What Alonso would like more than anything else, is to see Emi Martinez secure his first clean sheet since joining Chelsea. Martinez has just kept three clean sheets for Argentina during the international break.
