As per latest News, Liverpool could face an important decision over Alisson Becker after Fabrizio Romano provided a fresh news on his contract situation. The goalkeeper currently has a deal with the Reds until 2027, but there are no active talks over a new contract at the moment. Romano believes there could be movement over Alisson’s future in summer 2027. However, this does not mean that Liverpool have decided to let the Brazilian leave.

Fabrizio Romano provides Alisson Becker update

Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on Alisson Becker’s contract. Speaking on the latest Here We Go podcast, Romano said Liverpool and Alisson are not discussing a new deal at the moment. Liverpool previously used an option to extend Alisson’s contract until 2027. The club has no further option after that. So, Liverpool would need to agree on a new deal to keep him beyond 2027.

Romano also said the situation could change in summer 2027. That is when Alisson’s current deal ends. However, this does not mean Alisson has decided to leave Liverpool. It only means that the club and goalkeeper are not discussing a new contract right now.

Alisson Becker remains an important figure at Liverpool

Alisson Becker has played a key role for Liverpool since joining from Roma in 2018. The club paid an initial €62.5 million for the Brazilian goalkeeper. He quickly became Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper. He also played a key role during one of the club’s most successful periods.

His performances have helped Liverpool compete for major domestic and European titles. His experience also makes him one of the senior players in the squad. There is no sign that his role has changed. Alisson remains under contract with Liverpool until 2027. Now, there are doubts about whether the Premier League club will offer him a new deal.

Alisson’s stats in the 2025/26 season at Liverpool, as per FOTMOB:

Competition Appearances Clean Sheets Saves Goals Conceded Save Percentage(%)

Premier League 26 8 57 31 64.8%

FA Cup 2 1 5 1 83.3%

UCL 6 4 13 3 81.2%

Liverpool already have future options

Liverpool also have options for the future. As reported by TEAMtalk that Giorgi Mamardashvili and Lucca Brughmans are part of the club’s long-term plans. Mamardashvili joined Liverpool from Valencia. He now provides competition for Alisson. The Georgian goalkeeper could have a bigger role at the club in the future. Brughmans is another young option. Liverpool signed the Belgian goalkeeper from Genk and was sent on loan to his former club itself.

The Merseyside football club plans to continue his development before he moves to Anfield from his loan spell. Alisson Becker’s contract situation remains unresolved, with Liverpool yet to begin talks over a new deal. But this does not mean either goalkeeper will replace Alisson Becker. Liverpool have not confirmed any such plan. Alisson still has a contract until 2027.

Author’s Opinion

Liverpool should not rush their decision on Alisson Becker. He still has the experience and quality to play at the highest level. At the same time, Mamardashvili and Brughmans give Liverpool options for the future. For now, Romano’s update should be viewed as a contract situation rather than an expected departure. Liverpool and Alisson are not in talks at present, but that could change before 2027.

The club has enough time to assess the situation, while Alisson can continue focusing on his performances. Ultimately, Liverpool should make the decision based on his form, fitness and long-term value rather than reacting to speculation.
