Steelers news: Young receivers have golden opportunity vs. Colts

As the Pittsburgh Steelers begin a critical four-game stretch that will go a long way to determine their playoff chances, the offense was dealt a blow with the news of Michael Pittman’s injury, which will sideline him for a few weeks. The former Colts receiver re-aggravated a foot injury from the preseason, and now the offense will be down one of its high-priced receivers. Although integrating Pittman, Jr. has been tough, the next few weeks would have been the perfect time to make him a big part of the offense.

Now, Roman Wilson has a huge opportunity in front of him after a solid start to the season. Rookie receiver Germie Bernard will also get a chance, but Aaron Rodgers and the offense need to establish consistency and continuity with their pass catchers. Sunday is an opportunity for both Wilson and Bernard. The chance for two Steelers draft picks to develop and become consistent threats is the bright side of this unfortunate situation.

Here is Friday’s Three Rivers Report.
