“Whether it’s him or Harry Kane, seeing the way they operate – do you pick things up?” King replied: “You take stuff from them. The way the more senior players hold themselves, or conduct themselves.
“The way they work every day; their professionalism is really admirable. I try to implement that; having such good role models is important. Henderson, Kane, Bellingham – they took me under their wing.
“It helped me to settle in, but it also allowed me to take information from them and put that into my own career,” King explained, speaking on The Rest Is Football’s latest episode, while on England U21 duty.
It will only be a matter of time before Chelsea eye King
Fulham’s teenage sensation has not yet been properly linked with a move to Chelsea, but given the amount of young talent linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, it feels inevitable he will become a target.
If Chelsea ever did try and sign King in the future, having Henderson at Stamford Bridge will certainly help the Blues get a deal over the line. For now, King’s future is at Fulham, where he has a contract until 2029.
There is a gap opening up in attacking midfield. Chelsea have Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, but if one of those players gets injured, Chelsea do lack cover. Perhaps signing King as competition makes sense.
