Erling Haaland insists Manchester City’s focus remains on winning games
Erling Haaland insists the focus remains on winning games as Manchester City prepare to return to action amid a storm this weekend.
City travel to Liverpool on Sunday for their first match since it was announced the club had been found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations. The club have maintained their innocence and appealed against the verdict.
With uncertainty surrounding the club, Haaland stressed the focus on the pitch remains the same, with City seeking to maintain their winning momentum under new manager Enzo Maresca.

The Norway striker told Sky Sports: “There’s plenty of new players and there are players we need to give time to, even though in football you don’t really get time, do you? So, people have to come straight in, perform.
“There are players that know the league and everything and a new manager as well is always different, but we have to help each other and we have to try to, in the end, just win games.”
Haaland, who has scored seven goals this term, has declared himself fit despite being taken off in Norway’s clash with Portugal last weekend due to fatigue.
He said: “I think I’ve played over 10 games already and I feel like the season started yesterday.
“I’m not complaining that I’m tired or anything because I’m not tired, I’m full of energy.
“But I think it’s so many games. I don’t mind playing the games but I think the level will drop the more games you play and you don’t get a proper rest and get fully recovered.
“Then you will play at maybe 75 per cent a game. That’s not optimal but that’s the reality.”

Haaland has sported a new look this season after having his hair cut prior to City’s opening Premier League game.
The 26-year-old was known for his flowing blond locks and his buzz cut caused a stir.
“I expected it to go a bit viral but I didn’t expect the whole world to look at me with a new haircut,” he said. “It was quite funny.”
