_“If somebody comes in with an offer for him in the transfer window, then I expect they will be open to those discussions and he could be allowed to move on.”_
**Should Liverpool sell Federico Chiesa in January?**
-----------------------------------------------------
To put it bluntly, there is no future for Chiesa at Liverpool, with the former Juve man simply not having a good enough impact, and looking like a player who is past his prime.
This is despite him clearly being a much-loved figure among his Reds teammates, as highlighted by what captain [Virgil van Dijk](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/virgil-van-dijk-hails-amazing-federico-chiesa-match-winning-cameo-bournemouth/bltdbb94ca9d236336a) has said about him in the past:
_“Fede is an amazing character, he works so hard and has been unlucky with injuries but we are all here for him and we all know what kind of impact he could have. He’s a great character and we all love him, I think everyone can see that, and he’s loved by the fans, and to produce moments like he has \[against Bournemouth\] is something we all want to see.”_
If a bid arrives for Chiesa in the January transfer window, Liverpool would be wise to accept it, getting him off their wage bill and allowing a younger winger to come in instead.
Signing him two-and-a-bit years ago was always worth the risk by the Reds, considering he only cost £10m, but ultimately, the transfer hasn’t been a success.
