Chelsea could play a decisive role in Tottenham’s hopes of keeping Pedro Porro, with Barcelona continuing to keep a close eye on the situation.
Pedro Porro remains one of Tottenham Hotspur’s standout players and a crucial part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
When fit, the full-back is a guaranteed starter, and on his day he ranks among the best right-backs in the world, according to head coach De Zerbi.
He said: “Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown his ability to influence matches in both defensive and attacking situations.
“As well as his technical quality, I also love his mentality. Every day he wants to work, to learn and to improve, and these are the characteristics that help players reach the highest level.
“He understands football in a very intelligent way, and brings energy, intensity and personality to the team.
“This new contract is good news for everyone at the Club. We believe in Pedro, and I am excited to continue working with him and helping him achieve even more in the coming years.”
The 28-year-old’s exploits at the World Cup only cemented his reputation, having helped Spain clinch their second-ever title while finishing as the highest-rated defender in the tournament.

Pedro Porro linked with Barcelona move despite Tottenham contract
Porro’s impressive World Cup displays have now attracted interest from European heavyweights Barcelona. According to Mundo Deportivo, Porro is effectively taking part in a “casting” for Barcelona’s right-back position.
It is understood that the Spaniard’s relationship with Lamine Yamal on the pitch is seen as an attractive option for Hansi Flick, who wants someone capable of quickly building chemistry with the youngster.
Porro, however, is not the only player on Barcelona’s radar, with Sporting full-back Ivan Fresneda considered a younger alternative.
Although Porro is settled at Tottenham, having signed a new contract in the summer, reports suggest he is open to a move to Barcelona.
Spurs waiting on Barcelona’s next move
Any potential transfer could hinge on Jules Kounde’s future. The Frenchman is currently behind Eric Garcia in the pecking order under Flick, which has attracted interest from Chelsea.
Should the Blues make a move for Kounde, Barcelona could use the funds to pursue either Porro or Fresneda.
For now, Porro has had limited involvement for Tottenham this season due to injury. The full-back is expected to return on 24 October, just in time for the derby clash between Spurs and Chelsea.
