‘You just feel the hate’: Micky van de Ven says what’s so unique about playing Arsenal at The Emirates

When it comes to The Emirates Stadium, there are few better in the country in terms of atmosphere when things really get pumping.

The Gunners have been roared on over the years and at times, the crowd has played a huge part in getting the team over the line and picking up crucial points.

For many away teams, coming to The Emirates is now one of the hardest away days in the world.

And when it comes to Tottenham, it seems things go up yet another notch.

Micky van de Ven says he can ‘feel the hate’ when he plays Arsenal

Arsenal and Tottenham might be having hugely different fortunes right now, but the derby remains one of the most fierce and competitive in England.

For Spurs, coming to The Emirates has been a bit of a nightmare at times and according to current defender Micky van de Ven, there is a different feeling around the place when it’s Spurs v Arsenal.

“It’s just different. You I can’t really describe it, man.

“It’s like the atmosphere and everything. You feel like when we play in the Emirates, you just feel the hate. You just feel it. You know what I mean?,” Van de Ven commented on ESPN.

Tottenham’s record at The Emirates backs up Van de Ven’s point

In the last few years in particular, not many teams come to Arsenal and win. The Emirates is a fortress and Mikel Arteta intends on keeping it that way.

For Tottenham, they simply struggle to win at The Emirates in general. In fact, in 19 Premier League visits, Spurs have come away victorious just once.

As for Van de Ven, he is yet to experience winning away at Arsenal, with two defeats and a draw to his name in the three times he’s played so far.

Arsenal fans will be delighted to hear this as well, knowing a current Spurs player has very much picked up on the difficult atmosphere.
