Andoni Iraola has claimed he feels "lucky" to be Liverpool boss, while praising some of the behind-the-scenes staff who keep everything running at the club.

It follows an interesting start to life on Merseyside for the Spaniard, following his switch to Anfield from Bournemouth, where he achieved plenty of success with his high-intensity, pressing style of play.

In recruiting Iraola, the Liverpool hierarchy is hoping for more of the same, with early signs in the first few weeks of his tenure, alongside clear areas for improvement along the way.

With four wins in the first seven matches across all competitions, the foundations are there for the team to push on, with Iraola still settling into the hot seat at Anfield.

While he reflects on the first few months in charge, the manager has once again shown his class with a message praising the staff the fans don't always see, who still play a role in ensuring the team can perform on the pitch.

Speaking on the official Liverpool YouTube channel, the head coach claimed: "A lot of times when you win games, I think the people that work with us here [at the AXA training centre], don’t receive the recognition.

"The people in the kitchen, the ones in the dining room, the ones that help us here with the boots, and when you feel that they are happy, they enjoy it.

"I feel lucky to be in this position so we can make people around us happy, and this is probably one of the best things football can give you.”

It once again shows the class that Iraola has, having already proven himself to be such in how he has conducted himself throughout his career to date.

Considering how fractured some sections of the Liverpool fanbase have been over the past year, his understanding of the situation, and what the club means to the community, from those working behind the scenes to the people in the stands, suggests he can connect it all together again.

While results will ultimately determine the outcome of his time at Anfield, the human connection is also important in helping the team achieve its goals.

A relatively positive start for the coach will be put to the test over the coming weeks, with nine fixtures before the November international break, including some truly difficult encounters.

That all begins with a match against Manchester City this weekend, with the table-toppers looking to inflict a first defeat on the Spaniard this season.
