Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers Makes Intriguing Revelation on What Makes DK Metcalf Different

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) calls a time out in the first quarter of the NFL Week 3 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026. The game was tied at 17 at halftime.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Makes Intriguing Revelation on What Makes DK Metcalf Different 1

Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have had a topsy-turvy start to the 2026 NFL season, which, according to him, is his last as a player.

Pittsburgh hasn’t won consecutive games, but the AFC North team hasn’t lost back-to-back either, with a 2-2 record through four weeks of football.

The Steelers may still be trying to get into rhythm under new head coach Mike McCarthy.

Rodgers doesn’t need to get familiar with McCarthy, as the two spent several years together with the Green Bay Packers. It could be a different case for the other, like wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Either way, Rodgers admires the passion he’s seeing from the wideout.

“We all lose our minds at times out on the field, and mine always get caught. His, not so much. … DK is a passionate guy, and sometimes you just gotta let him go, because that passion is what makes him such a great player,” the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player Rodgers told reporters, via Brendan Howe of Steelers Now.

Pittsburgh’s wide receiver room has taken a blow, with wideout Michal Pittman expected to miss multiple weeks with a foot injury.

The Steelers inked Pittman in the offseason to a two-year, $35 million contract, but he’s largely been a disappointment, thus far. In three games played this season, he has only recorded 89 receiving yards with zero touchdowns on seven catches and 12 targets — 58 of those yards were from Week 1’s Steelers win over Atlanta.

This development leaves a bigger workload downfield for Metcalf, who has 213 receiving yards and a touchdown on 16 catches in four games.

As a team, Pittsburgh is just 24th in the league with an average of 19.3 points per game.
