Replying to @stevegooner1987 My biggest regret in football? Leaving Liverpool. 💔🔴 After my injury, when things weren’t going my way, I didn’t always have the right attitude or show the professionalism I should have. Looking back, I wish I’d handled things differently. I was playing for my boyhood club, living the dream, and I let my frustrations get the better of me. You can’t change the past, but you can learn from it. Some lessons stay with you forever. ❤️ Liverpool fans, do you think I could’ve achieved more at the club? 👀👇 #LiverpoolFC #LFC #YNWA #FootballRegrets

Andoni Iraola will have to try something new in attack against Manchester City after ruling both Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo out of the match.
Isak is Liverpool‘s only senior out-and-out No. 9 until Hugo Ekitike returns from injury, while Gakpo has widely been seen as the most natural back-up for the time being.
To be without both for the biggest game of the season so far is terrible luck for Iraola, and though it could mean a first Premier League start for Lewis Koumas, the Spaniard has also suggested that Bradley Barcola could also play through the middle on Sunday.
Barcola is an option at centre-forward
Barcola has already operated on both the left and the right for Liverpool as he continues to search for his first goal since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain.
Asked about the 24-year-old receiving some criticism for his lack of goals in France, and whether he is concerned by his performance, Iraola threw his backing behind Barcola, while also confirming that he does see him as an option at centre-forward.
“I don’t think he’s in a bad moment,” he replied. “I think the problem with wingers who are strikers, is if they don’t score a goal then they haven’t played well. I think we have to see the games, we have to watch.
“In the first game against Atletico Madrid he missed two or three quite clear chances, I don’t care, honestly. I care, but I want to see him there. I’ve seen him with the national team, he had a couple of good situations to score, he hasn’t scored, but I want him to be there.
“He’s a top player for us, I think he can play in any position up front. He has probably played more as a left winger, but has played a little bit as a striker, even more as a right winger, so I think he can go in all three positions up front and he’s a super valuable player for us.”
Iraola also said that he trusts Koumas to play, while name-dropping Federico Chiesa, who has now returned from injury. Whoever plays against City will not be the player Liverpool fans wanted to see, with Isak’s injury coming at a bad time. But Iraola does have options, and Barcola is arguably the best of them.
