Bio:

David Andrew Seaman (born 19 September 1963) is a retired English footballer who was a goalkeeper. He played from 1981 to 2004, mainly for Arsenal. Seaman earned 75 caps for England, making him the third-most capped goalkeeper, along with Joe Hart, behind Peter Shilton and Jordan Pickford. In 1997, he received the MBE for contributions to football and was nominated for the 1998 Ballon d’Or. He is also one of the few players with over 1,000 career appearances.

Seaman started his football career with Peterborough United, Birmingham City, and Queens Park Rangers. He became famous as Arsenal and England’s goalkeeper in the 1990s and early 2000s. At Arsenal, he won three league titles (1991, 1998, 2002), four FA Cups (1993, 1998, 2002, 2003), the League Cup in 1993, and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1994. He also represented England in the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups, as well as Euro 96 and Euro 2000. After leaving Arsenal, he played for Manchester City in the Premier League and retired in 2004 due to a shoulder injury. In June 2012, he became the goalkeeping coach for Wembley, a Combined Counties League club.

Seaman is regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history by his peers, especially in the Premier League. He was named the second-best goalkeeper in the world in 1996 and ranked 32nd in the European Keeper of the Century vote, making him the fourth-highest English goalkeeper in that ranking. In 2013, James McNicholas from Bleacher Report called Seaman “the greatest goalkeeper in Arsenal’s history.” Apart from his skills, he was easily recognizable on the field for his moustache and ponytail hairstyle.

Seaman’s save from Paul Peschisolido in the 2002–03 FA Cup semi-final was called one of the best ever. He had two major mistakes: letting in a last-minute goal from Nayim in the 1995 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup Final and a free kick from Ronaldinho in the 2002 FIFA World Cup quarter-final. Although Seaman is left-handed, he threw with his right arm and kicked with his right foot.
