Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has avoided a long-term injury, according to reports.

The German international picked up a hamstring problem whilst playing for his country against the Netherlands last month.

Insider HandofArsenal claims that there were initially fears that Havertz could be sidelined for an extended period.

However, there is now “relief” that the prognosis is less serious than originally thought.

Havertz has been described as having a special gift by club icon

Speaking about the 27-year-old’s qualities back in May, Gunners legend Thierry Henry said:

“He has this gift for scoring important goals. Coach Mikel Arteta himself said it: They missed Kai because he helps with transitions; he’s strong in pressing.”

“He constantly puts pressure on [and] understands the game very well thanks to his high footballing IQ. He uses his brain. This allows him to play in various positions.”

When could he be back in action for Arsenal?

This latest update suggests that Havertz will return to first-team training within days/weeks rather than months.

A serious hamstring tear could have even required an operation and lengthy rehabilitation, but it appears he will make his comeback in the short to medium term.

Havertz is certainly not the only player that manager Mikel Arteta has fitness concerns about heading into the game against Leeds United this weekend.

Declan Rice missed international duty due to his own hamstring issue, while the likes of Ben White (groin), Christos Tzolis (hamstring), Max Dowman (knock), Ezri Konsa (quad) and William Saliba are also still on the sidelines.

Rice and White are probably the likeliest to be in contention for Saturday’s game, but Arteta will give a fresh update on the fitness of certain players in his pre-match press conference at the end of the week.
