Everton have been told that they couldn’t have a better manager than David Moyes for the position they’re in.

Blues owners The Friedkin Group announced on Friday that they are exploring new investment options for the club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest.

It comes after a chaotic transfer deadline day that saw Iliman Ndiaye, Beto, Tim Iroegbunam and Nathan Patterson all sold for more than £100m with just Ainsley Maitland-Niles, a £4m arrival from Olympique Lyonnais, and Jack Grealish, who has returned on a season-long loan from Manchester City, brought in.

Everton did attempt to seal a big-money deal for USA World Cup star Folarin Balogun from Monaco only for it to dramatically collapse in the final hours of the window.

That has left Moyes with a solitary striker, right-back and left-back in a senior squad comprising of just 18 senior outfield players.

And former striker turned pundit Don Goodman, whose clubs included Bradford City, West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland and Wolves, told OLBG who offer the best betting sites: “You look at David’s managerial credentials and his record. I know ‘frustrated’ would be the word.

“The fans were frustrated and David Moyes would be frustrated with that window. It was obviously poor, but he’ll cope.

“He’ll cope in the face of adversity. He’s been doing that all of his managerial career.

“With a lot of the teams that we’ve spoken about, their problems have been that they’re leaking loads and loads of goals. Everton are the opposite: they’re rock solid, with the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League.

“He’s got them organised, and he’s a manager who sometimes doesn’t really get the credit he deserves. Everton are lucky to have him, I think, particularly given this summer window and the frustration of the fans.

“They’ve got off to a decent start in the face of a little bit of adversity. All credit and power to him, they couldn’t have a better manager for the situation they’ve been in.”

Everton return to action following the three-week international break at Hull City on Sunday, unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions so far this season. They book-ended a sequence of three consecutive Premier League draws against Bournemouth (1-1), Manchester United (2-2) and Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 with home wins over Crystal Palace (2-0) on the opening day and signed off with a 1-0 victory against Ipswich Town.

In between all of that, they also advanced through two rounds of the Carabao Cup, defeating Championship pair Preston North End 4-0 away and Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
