The Perth Wildcats extended their winning run to four games with a 100-84 win over the New Zealand Breakers at RAC Arena on Thursday night.

The margin blew out in the final term.

Before that, the Breakers had shown that they are not a one-man team.

With early-season MVP candidate Parker Jackson-Cartwright sidelined with a leg injury, the Breakers pushed the Wildcats for more than three quarters, before the home side pulled away.

An enormous double double performance from Sam Mennenga had New Zealand just four points down at three-quarter-time.

Mennenga was ruthless, with 40 points and 18 rebounds.

But the Wildcats got going from long range after half-time, dropping 12 three-pointers after the long break to secure the win.

**TOO MANY OPTIONS**

The Breakers have been miserly in defence this season.

Perth is the only team to reach 90 points against them and now they have done it twice.

The Breakers restricted Cairns and Adelaide to just 75 and 72 points respectively in their two outings before this weekend.

Perth went into the game with five of their players averaging double figure points this season.

It’s been a long time since a Wildcats team has had that spread in offense.

Three of those, Dylan Windler (32 points, including seven three-pointers),Elijah Pepper (25) and Anthony Dell’Orso (10) got their again.

Kristian Doolittle was kept to just five points, but chipped in with nine assists.

Veteran Jesse Wagstaff chipped in with a handy 13 points.

**KNIGHT HAS ARRIVED**

The Wildcats have waited until their fifth outing to welcome their new point guard, 451-NBA game veteran Brandon Knight.

He has finally arrived.

Knight entered the game after almost four minutes had elapsed and impacted straight away.

He’s been in Australia for just a week and managed just under 20 minutes of court time.

He scored only six points, but got the crowd behind him with his first play, a blocked on a Dejan Vasiljevic lay-up attempt.

That sparked a Wildcats 9-2 run forcing Gordon Herbert to call a time out.

He did more than enough to show he was worth the wait.

**SAM I AM**

Mennenga actually reached his double double half-way through the second term.

The Wildcats struggled to keep him out of the game, especially with Jo Lual-Acuil sitting on the bench nursing a calf injury.

Mennenga scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds by quarter-time.

The Breakers last 17 points of the first quarter all came from the big man and they went into quarter time ahead 22-21 because of him.

His rebounds were just as important as his points.

The Breakers dominate the boards, 47-36, including 21 offensive rebounds, which bought about 29 second chance points. Most of them were scored by Mennenga.

**OUT FOR A FEW**

Jackson-Cartwright looks like being sidelined for a few weeks.

Has lower leg injury had him getting around RAC Arena on Saturday on crutches.

He’s expected to miss at least the next two Breakers clashes, against Sydney and Tasmania.

The Breakers need someone to help make up the 26 points and almost 10 assists per game until he returns.
