Former Los Angeles Lakers center Christian Koloko has been cut from his new team as the NBA continues preparations for the new season.
According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the New Orleans Pelicans have waived Christian Koloko after two preseason games.
Koloko appeared in one preseason game with the Pelicans on Thursday against the Miami Heat.
In 4 minutes of action, he grabbed 2 rebounds and made 2 blocks in the team's 118-110 loss.
Koloko signed a one-year deal with the Pelicans this offseason
This summer, Koloko agreed to a one-year contract with the Pelicans, where he was expected to compete for the final spot on the roster for the upcoming season.
Koloko spent the 2025-26 campaign with three different teams. He began the season with the Lakers before signing two 10-day contracts with the Memphis Grizzlies and later joining the Atlanta Hawks on a two-way deal.
The 6-foot-11 center made 27 total appearances across the three teams last season, including four starts.
Koloko initially joined the Lakers on a two-way contract in September 2024. He had previously spent his rookie season with the Toronto Raptors, who selected him with the No. 33 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Known primarily for his size, mobility and rim protection, Koloko will now search for a new opportunity with a new team.
