Few names carry the weight of Thierry Henry at Arsenal. He scored 228 goals for the club, a record that still stands.

He became Arsenal’s record goalscorer with a goal in a 2-0 win at Sparta Prague. He also scored 30 league goals in the 2003-04 season, when Arsenal went unbeaten as the Invincibles.

In eight years at the club he won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups. Fans voted him Arsenal’s greatest ever player in 2008. A statue of his knee-slide celebration stands outside the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger once said every Arsenal fan would name Henry as the club’s key player. In January 2012, Henry returned on loan and scored the only goal against Leeds United in the FA Cup.

For France, he won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000, and scored 51 goals in 123 appearances.

That name is back in the headlines this week, for a very different reason.

Serie D club Solbiatese announced on Friday that they had signed a striker named Thierry Henry. The club confirmed the move in a post on its Instagram account.

He is not the former Arsenal and France forward. He is a young Franco-Cameroonian striker born in 2003. He turns 23 on 19 November, according to Varesenoi.

He arrives from Club Milano, where he scored eight goals and provided three assists in 16 appearances last season.

The club says that helped secure its direct survival. Two of the goals were penalties, according to Prealpina, which also reports that he terminated his contract with Club Milano.

Before that, he played for Chieri, where he finished the 2024-25 season with five goals. He has played in Serie D with both Chieri and Club Milano.

The club’s announcement said he joins to bring quality and a nose for goal.

He can play as a centre-forward or a second striker. He can play across the whole front line, and could be available for Sunday’s trip to Pro Sesto, according to Paolozerbi. The Group D match kicks off at 3pm.

Solbiatese are newly promoted to Serie D. Andrea Aletti recently moved up from assistant to head coach, replacing Roberto Gatti. The team has five points and a game in hand.

Solbiatese welcomed the player with a graphic carrying the line “Stessa passione. Stessa ambizione” (“Same passion. Same ambition”).
