The Los Angeles Rams have had a bit of an up-and-down start to the 2026 season, but one bright spot without a doubt has been the play of running back Kyren Williams. Williams has been the engine for the Rams’ offense, totaling 467 scrimmage yards in the first four weeks of the season, eighth-most in the NFL.
His work and what he has meant to this team has not gone unnoticed, in particular by quarterback Matthew Stafford, who praised Williams for what he’s done so far this season and is happy for the success he is seeing, via Zach Edwards of TheRams.com:
“I can’t imagine being a running back in the NFL, what it puts your body through, and what he’s able to do week in and week out to produce for our team, both on a physical standpoint, but also just an emotional standpoint,” quarterback Matthew Stafford said. “He’s a huge plus for us, and just really happy for his success today.”
Last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, Williams was outstanding, rushing for 80 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns while also adding 10 receptions for an additional 67 yards in the much-needed 24-20 victory. The previous week, Williams finished with 158 yards from scrimmage, with 88 on the ground and another 70 through the air on six receptions.
The passing game for the Rams gets a ton of attention with Stafford coming off an MVP season, Puka Nacua being arguably the best receiver in football and Davante Adams leading the league in receiving touchdowns last year. But Williams has always remained consistent, dependable and reliable for this team and his impact is immeasurable.
In each of the last three seasons, Williams has rushed for at least 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns while also adding at least 30 receptions as well. With 21 catches this season already, he is on pace to go well beyond that and the Rams will undoubtedly keep relying on him on the ground and through the air to help power this offense.
The expectations for the Rams is a Super Bowl and Stafford understands that Williams will continue to play a major part in this team’s ability to make that run.
