Schoolboy striker Jaden Maghoma scored two penalties as Arsenal U18s extended their winning run in all competitions to four matches with a 3-2 success at home to Birmingham City in the Premier League Cup.

The game also saw recent signing Vincent Joseph make his debut for the club as a substitute following his recent move from Liverpool.

Arsenal were without several players due to their involvement with the U21s, which allowed schoolboy midfielder Mikael Bonaventure Yetna to start for the U18s, while Elyon Mbala captained the team.

Arsenal found themselves behind after just seven minutes with Noah Hoarau giving Birmingham the lead.

Soon, however, the young Gunners managed to equalise through Maghoma’s first penalty before defender Abraham Owusu-Gyasi gave them the lead.

Early in the second half Maghoma managed to convert another penalty to make it 3-1 to Arsenal.

A double change took place just after the hour mark as Marley Frohock and Gabriel Arteta replaced Bonaventure Yetna and Joshua Sesay.

Birmingham reduced the deficit through substitute Theodore Mason but Arsenal managed to hold on for the victory.

Joseph replaced Maghoma in the 83rd minute, with Josh Tahou also coming on for Hakeem Abubakar.

Arsenal are back in league action next weekend with an intriguing home game against Tottenham.
