New England placed wide receiver Mack Hollins and fullback Reggie Gilliam on injured reserve Saturday, meaning both players will miss at least four games.

The Patriots also activated special-teams Brenden Schooler from the non-football injury list to the 53-man roster and signed cornerback Kindle Vildor to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

Linebacker K.J. Britt and safety Elliot Davison were also elevated to the active roster from the practice squad.

The latest moves come after the Patriots ruled out six players for Sunday's game, including cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis III. The growing list of absences leaves New England scrambling to fill roster spots as it prepares to host Las Vegas.

Injuries create more than just holes on the depth chart. Losing established contributors also means losing leadership and familiarity, forcing the remaining players to adjust on short notice.

The Patriots have long leaned on a “Next Man Up” mentality to navigate adversity. But with more players landing on injured reserve and additional contributors unavailable for Sunday's game, that approach faces another test.

As the Patriots prepare for the Raiders, the question is no longer simply who will step into the vacant roles. It's how long New England can continue replacing key contributors before the mounting losses become too much to overcome.
