The New Orleans Pelicans were missing one of their starters in Saturday’s practice.
Dejounte Murray, who missed Thursday’s preseason loss to the Miami Heat with a toe contusion, continues to deal with the injury.
“We are going to continue to be precautionary about it,” Pelicans’ coach Jamahl Mosley said Saturday.
The Pelicans’ next preseason game is Wednesday at the Dallas Mavericks.
Mosley, when asked if this is an injury Murray could play through if it was during the regular season, had this to say.
“We’re just going to keep evaluating him and how he responds to the treatment we’re giving him,” Mosley said. “So right now, to try to gauge whether it is playing or not playing, we’re 10 days into training camp. So I’ll evaluate that once we start to get into regular season games.”
Murray finished with 6 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds in the Pelicans’ first preseason game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Murray is one of two Pelicans’ players who didn’t practice Saturday.
Guard AJ Johnson is dealing with a finger injury.

The Pelicans signed forward Jalon Moore, the team announced Saturday.
Moore played on the Pelicans’ Summer League team in July, averaging 6 points and 4 rebounds. Moore averaged 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds during the 2024-’25 season at the University of Oklahoma.
To make room for Moore, the Pelicans waived center Christian Koloko.
The 6-foot-11 Koloko didn’t play in the Pels’ game against OKC, but played just over four minutes Thursday against the Heat.
