Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on signing Erling Haaland, but Man City fans should not be concerned about the player making a quick exit from the club, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano

There has been plenty of speculation about the futures of the club’s top stars following the Premier League FFP ruling, but, speaking on his YouTube channel about Haaland in particular, Romano said:

“One thing is, Erling Haaland is now ready to fight for Man City, with Man City, and focused on Man City completely, and that’s a fact. On the other side, if you ask me, ‘Is there one day a chance of seeing Erling Haaland playing in Spain for a top Spanish club.’?”

“Real Madrid and Barcelona, guys, have wanted Erling Haaland since the times of Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid and Barcelona have always been around for Haaland. So I would not be surprised one day, but this is not linked to the process, to the verdict or anything else.”

“They have always been around, so I would not be surprised one day to see Erling Haaland playing in La Liga because they want him and they will keep insisting for him in the future. But this is a completely different topic to the reality.”

“This is my feeling, my opinion for the future, but if you ask me about the present, Erling Haaland is completely focused on Man City. And I think this message is absolutely worth sharing because Haaland sends a powerful message at a very difficult moment for Manchester City.””

Haaland has already spoken about his future

There have been some wild rumours over the past couple of weeks, including that Arsenal are hoping to land the Norwegian international if he leaves the Etihad Stadium.

However, Haaland has been clear on his current transfer stance. Rather than staying silent following the club’s guilty verdict, he has been vocal in urging everyone at City to “stick together” and “stay positive” during a difficult time.

There were concerns that Haaland may not be fit for the trip to Anfield, having limped off after playing for his country last weekend.

However, head coach Enzo Maresca had declared that the 26-year-old is “ready” for selection, which is a huge boost heading into such an important fixture.
