_“The boy has turned in a couple of good performances when he’s been asked to play in the national football, and he’s another one that shows that Bournemouth’s recruitment has been very good. I would imagine Arsenal are looking at him. I would imagine Manchester City are looking at him, certainly Liverpool.”_
**Alex Scott can thrive under Andoni Iraola at Liverpool**
----------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool clearly need a natural No.6 at the base of their midfield, with Monaco’s Lamine Camara and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton among the leading options.
But in Scott, the Reds would have an excellent box-to-box choice to add more energy in the middle of the park, having been hailed by Iraola during their time together last season:
_“He has played for us as a number 10, a number eight; today as a number six and he has added a lot of defensive work and a lot of duel-winning to the ability he has on the ball. We know, if we give him good options on the ball, space to carry the ball, arrivals, he will give us this. I’m very happy because he is becoming a very, very complete player.”_
Perhaps the biggest drawback regarding Liverpool signing Scott is his price tag, which is likely to be significant, given his reputation and the fact that he is an English player.
The Reds may have to overspend to get him, when some foreign players are cheaper, so they have to weigh up how key his Premier League experience could be.
Apart from the price tag, though, Scott is a fantastic young footballer who is only going to get better over the next five or six years, making him a superb long-term option in midfield.
