Just four weeks into the NFL season, a few teams have separated from the rest as the early class of the league.

Entering Week 5, every team has played four games while most of the league has already suffered their first loss of the season. However, a few teams came out of the gates strong with four-straight victories, making it so they have yet to experience a defeat this year.

Every season, the last few undefeated teams get put under a microscope as they look to keep the unbeaten streak alive. Last year, the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles shared that honor, but they each lost their fifth games following 4-0 starts.

That means that three teams this year have a chance to surpass last year's last two undefeated teams simply by getting to 5-0. Of those three teams who are still undefeated, two of them are looking for their fifth win in Week 5, while one will have to wait until Week 6.

Here's a look at which teams are looking to remain undefeated this season.

What NFL teams are undefeated?

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers have been the most impressive team in the NFL thus far, winning four-straight games to open the season in decisive fashion. That began when San Francisco blew out the Los Angeles Rams in Australia in Week 1, and has continued as the 49ers played the next three home games against the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos.

With Brock Purdy playing at an MVP level and Kyle Shanahan continuing to be a top-tier offensive playcaller, the 49ers offense has been fantastic. The defense, meanwhile, has held firm despite a variety of injuries and a new defensive coordinator. but Raheem Morris has produced strong results early in the season.

Next up for the 49ers is the 3-1 Seattle Seahawks, who represent one of San Francisco's biggest competitors for the NFC West and Super Bowl titles. A win would get the 49ers to 5-0 and cement their place atop the league's power rankings.

Minnesota Vikings

While the Vikings are undefeated so far, the way they've gotten to that point is unusual for a 4-0 team. Minnesota's defense has carried the way, as Brian Flores is flummoxing opposing quarterbacks and offenses, allowing an average of 15.8 points per game. Since Week 2, those numbers are even better as the Vikings defense has allowed 29 points in its last three games.

What makes this team confusing is the offense, which has not found its groove a quarter of the way through the season. Starting Kyler Murray missed a large part of the first two weeks with a concussion, but even after he returned, the offense has sputtered at times. Minnesota scored 39 points in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, but the team won games in Weeks 2-4 despite scoring two total touchdowns and 47 points overall, even winning two of those three games without scoring a touchdown at all.

The Vikings look to continue their undefeated ways on the road against the New Orleans, who are 1-3 and have a second-year starting quarterback in Tyler Shough.

Kansas City Chiefs

After a disappointing 2025 season, the Kansas City Chiefs are back to playing like Super Bowl contenders in 2026. Patrick Mahomes has played well after returning from his torn ACL rehab, while the defense has returned to a strong unit led by a bunch of young additions.

Most notably, though, new Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker is playing at an MVP-level, leading the league in rushing yards through four games as he is on pace for over 2,000 yards for the season. Walker was a star in the Super Bowl for the Seattle Seahawks last season, but he never got the kind of volume he is getting with Kansas City this year.

The Chiefs are off in Week 5 with an early bye, so they won't have a chance to improve to 5-0 until they play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6. Thus far, the Chiefs have two key AFC West wins against the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raider alongside victories against the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins.
