Liverpool vs Man City predicted lineups
Last Word on Football brings you the latest team news and predicted lineups for Liverpool vs Manchester City on October 11.
Manchester City’s first game since the Premier League handed down a guilty verdict on the vast majority of their Premier League charges comes at Anfield on Sunday.
A trip to Liverpool, perhaps the team most aggrieved by City’s actions, will provide a daunting test for Enzo Maresca’s table-toppers. The Italian showed his support for the club hierarchy during his pre-match press conference, while Andoni Iraola admitted he is concerned by the uncertainty that will cloud the English top flight for the foreseeable future.
The Basque may experience the full magnitude of a febrile Anfield for the first time this weekend, with Liverpool fans likely to express their anger at the Premier League’s ruling.
The Reds are looking for a first home league win of the season and have picked up nine points from the opening five matches. Meanwhile, City boast a perfect record from the opening weeks of the season.

Liverpool Team News
Iraola confirmed in Friday’s press conference that Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo will not be involved this weekend, meaning the Reds will be without a recognised centre forward.
“Alex Isak and Cody Gakpo will not play the game. They are not ready. Unfortunately for us, both got injuries during the international break.
“Cody has an ankle injury. He has had some before in his career and it’s a matter of him dealing with the pain. He is doing things individually but he isn’t ready for Sunday.
“Alex has a thigh injury. It’s not a massive injury, it’s a small injury. Whenever he feels ready. They both don’t look like long-term, we will be analysing day to day but they aren’t going to be ready on Sunday.”
Iraola added he “trusts” Lewis Koumas to play, although with Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola, Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz available, that looks unlikely. Jeremy Jacquet and Federico Chiesa are also available, but the latter is unlikely to start and hasn’t featured this season.

Man City Team News
Given the media spotlight on City, Maresca was not offering a full round up of the latest team news in Friday’s press conference. So there was no update on Antoine Semenyo, who pulled out of Ghana’s squad over the break, nor Nico O’Reilly, who was forced to withdraw from the England camp with a knock.
But Maresca revealed Erling Haaland is fit after suffering a knock while representing Norway. “He’s good. He went to Marbella, [had] two, three days off, played golf, recovery.” Phil Foden is set to miss out due to the suspension.

The Last Word: Match Prediction
Iraola’s solution to his lack of strikers will likely decide the outcome of this game. Liverpool’s performances have been steadily improving under Iraola, but this is his biggest test so far.
As for City, can they rediscover their mojo after mojo after a tumultuous three-week gap. The player will no doubt be reeling from recent events.
A score draw looks likely on this occasion.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Man City
