Everton are on the market for around £800m as the Friedkin Group explore a full sale.

The American investors completed their Everton takeover in December 2024, so they’ve only been in post for 22 months.

It’s been a shock to many that they are willing to sell so early on in the process, but then again, a lot of supporters saw it coming during the summer transfer window.

The Friedkin Group seemed unwilling to spend, and the disastrous end to the window was a huge red flag.

With that said, here’s what Toffees fans have had to say about the news on TalkingPoints.

Everton fans convinced the Friedkins aren’t overly bothered about Everton and prioritise other business ventures

Posting on TalkingPoints, Kierandoody explained that the Friedkins have always prioritised Roma and are now placing their focus on their new NHL hockey franchise based in Houston, Texas.

Del_kath added that they were just here to make quick cash, having bought the club for around £400m and now seeking offers for double that figure.

Tom.procter is desperate for a quick sale, with these processes sometimes taking over a year to complete. It’s important this sale process doesn’t hang over the football club like a dark cloud and start to impact results.

Anthonymanley isn’t at all surprised by this news, as he highlighted the fact the Friedkins have never been to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. It’s also been widely reported that they didn’t keep a consistent dialogue with Moyes.

According to the i Paper, there are already two potential buyers, and it’s understood a consortium mainly backed by US private equity is leading the race as it stands.

So, hopefully there is positive news on the horizon for Everton fans, who have been starved of success for far too long.

The Toffees take on Hull City in Humberside this afternoon. A win would move them up to fourth in the Premier League table. Clearly, there is reason to remain optimistic this season.
