The Seattle Seahawks (3-1) and San Francisco 49ers (4-0) square off once again at Lumen Field. Last year, the 49ers bested the Seahawks on opening day, only to see their season end in a 41-6 walloping. It was one of the sweetest wins in Seahawks history on their way to winning the Super Bowl at the home of the 49ers, but it’s a new season, and this is a very big early season matchup.
San Francisco has looked like a juggernaut, injuries be damned, and Kyle Shanahan’s team remains undefeated through the first month. This is, however, their first true road game of the season, having played three straight home games following a neutral site thrashing of the Los Angeles Rams in Australia. Seattle is 3-1 and would lead the NFC West with a win on Sunday, but the champs will have to play a lot better than we’ve seen through the first quarter-ish of the year. Too many penalties, third down struggles, and a struggling special teams unit have been at the forefront of Seattle’s issues. Get those cleaned up? It’ll be hard for any team to beat the Seahawks.
