Bruno Guimaraes said he is ready to score more goals for Arsenal after opening his Emirates Stadium account in his new side’s comeback win against Leeds.

Arsenal were in danger of following up their shock defeat at Brighton prior to the international break with another loss, this time against Daniel Farke’s impressive visitors.

But after Ricciardo Calafiori’s equaliser, Guimaraes landed the decisive blow just minutes after he was introduced as a second-half substitute by Mikel Arteta.

It marked Guimaraes’ second Premier League strike since his £75million move from Newcastle.

And the Brazil international, who will hope to start for Arsenal in their Champions League home group clash against Lille on Tuesday, said: “I felt amazing and I can’t wait to score more goals now.

“It was very loud when I scored. I want to hug them (the Arsenal supporters) for everything they have been doing for me. I can feel their love.

“I’m very excited about the big games we have ahead now. Now the focus is to celebrate a little bit and start to think about Lille. It’s going to be amazing, my first Champions League game at home.”

Guimaraes has made just one league start for Arsenal and it arrived in the Gunners’ 3-0 defeat at the Amex Stadium.

The 28-year-old was withdrawn on the hour mark, and speaking after Arsenal’s victory against Leeds, Arteta said his new midfielder “wasn’t at the level” required against Brighton. Guimaraes reverted to the bench for the visit of Leeds.

He continued: “I couldn’t wait to go to the pitch today, and I was very anxious on the bench.

“So, getting in the game, scoring an important goal and getting the three points is always a very good feeling. I would say it was a very special day for me.

“After the last game against Brighton we know that we should do much better, and today, I think it was a great answer even if I believe we can do much more.

“But the three points was very good for us. We know how tight the Premier League is, so we’re very happy with the win.”
