The Chicago Bears will be without Caleb Williams once again in Week 5 as they take on the Green Bay Packers on the road. However, the latest injury report reveals that the star quarterback may be nearing a return from injury soon.

Initial reports on Sunday morning revealed that Williams is officially inactive for Sunday's contest, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Tyson Bagent is set to be the starter against the Packers.

“Bears QB Caleb William is officially inactive but does have a chance to play next week,” Rapoport reported.

Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network also shared extra details about the 24-year-old signal-caller's situation. Garafolo informed NFL fans to get their memes and jokes in about Williams now, as the push to play in the Week 6 matchup vs. the Atlanta Falcons is seemingly real.

“Really good news for the Bears the other day with Caleb Williams returning to practice with that hamstring injury,” Garafolo said. “Not good news for this week, really, for next week. Because this is Williams starting to work his way back and pushing to play next week…

“The team is going to see how he does through the course of the week,” Garafolo continued. “So, we really don't know how this is going to go… But yes, it is him pushing [to return]. Take your memes, take your videos, which are hilarious, by the way, and enjoy them for now.”

The Caleb Williams memes poured in after it was revealed he was carted off the field with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, which is not deemed a serious injury, in the Bears' 9-3 Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. At the time, it appeared the former No. 1 pick had sustained a potentially serious lower-body injury, as Williams was in tears, waving his fist at the Chicago crowd on his way off the field.

Until a return is official, the Bears will rely on Tyson Bagent. This Week 5 matchup against the Packers will be the fourth-year veteran's third appearance this season (second start). He enters this contest with 322 passing yards and one interception while owning a 69.8% completion percentage.
