The Bukayo Saka experiment Mikel Arteta must try to get the Arsenal star firing again

Bukayo Saka’s form has become a hot topic among Arsenal fans.

The England international is adored by Gooners. He is one of their own and has been one of the biggest pillars of Mikel Arteta’s rebuild over the last seven years.

Saka had a good start to this season, scoring three goals in his first four Premier League games. That is an excellent return when you look at it on paper, but there seems to be a drop in his level for one reason or another. That was evident against Leeds United.

Arteta has to do something to get his star attacker firing again, and we have a suggestion.

Mikel Arteta should use Bukayo Saka on Arsenal’s left wing

Arsenal have a problem on their left wing at the moment.

The Gunners were already short of options in that position after selling both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli in the summer. The man who replaced them, Christos Tzolis, is injured and will be out for a few weeks now.

Noni Madueke started there against Leeds and did well. He was arguably Arsenal’s best attacker, but it is still a problem position for Arteta.

One worthy experiment would be to give Bukayo Saka a run of games on the left wing.

The Arsenal number seven has predominantly played on the right over the last few years, but he has contributed on the opposite side for his club before.

In 77 games as a left-winger or a left-midfielder, Saka has scored 26 goals and provided 21 assists. Most of those goal contributions came when he was an inexperienced youngster playing in a far worse side.

Now, Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world, dominate most games comfortably, and they have world-class players available to support Saka on the left flank.

The 25-year-old is quick, can dribble past players, has the ability to create chances and score goals using both his feet. Yes, the angles of attack make it a bit more difficult on the left, but he is more than capable of being a threat there.

Arsenal fans are worried about Saka’s form. We think moving him to the left wing could give him the change he needs to return to his best.
