David Moyes gave his thoughts after Everton's 2-2 Premier League draw at Hull City in which Brennan Johnson, for the second successive game, was punished for being offside

David Moyes believes Everton had a goal chalked off at Hull City for a wording of the laws he doesn’t understand – and he reckons others don’t either. Brennan Johnson appeared to have fired the Blues in front in the first half but after a check of his pitchside monitor, referee Michael Salisbury disallowed the effort in the 2-2 draw.
Former Premier League assistant referee Darren Cann defended the decision, saying VAR Tim Wood was also right to instruct the on-field official at MKM Stadium to go to the monitor as this was a subjective offside decision, rather a factual one.
But Moyes said: “Yeah, subjective offside, I think is the word. Which I don’t know what that actually means. But I’m trying to be pretty straight as much as I can.

“You know, we had a goal rolled off last week again against Ipswich the last time we played. He may well just be offside, Brennan. But I’d like to see the lines drawn just to see exactly if they’ve got it right.
“So, I’m hoping that the people who’ve done it, have done that and got the job right because there’s a chance that the goalkeeper’s heel could be playing him onside. But on just a quick picture I saw, 10 minutes ago, my feeling is it’s probably just offside.
“I don’t know what subject offside is, and I don’t think any of you do either.”
Moyes admitted he was frustrated not to pick up a first Premier League away win of the season, though, against their newly promoted hosts.
The Everton manager said: “I’m really disappointed that we didn’t come away with three points. I couldn’t see them getting a goal when we went 2-1 up, I thought would go on and finish it.
“It was really unlike us, the way we gave the goals away today. We were very, very poor from our standard.
“But don’t take anything away from Hull. You know they’ve had some great results here against Man United, Aston Villa, and they’re not easy to beat.
“So, they weren’t, but I thought that we should have gone on and won the game comfortably.”
One positive factor for Moyes though was the display of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who netted the Blues' equaliser before picking out Thierno Barry for their second goal. Asked if that was a plus point,
Moyes said: “It was, because, generally, the overall performance from everybody was so far below our levels. We were way below where we should be, and I thought that showed in so many important players, but Kiernan was the one who got us the goal, and obviously he made the assist for Thierno.”
