Manchester City fans lavished praise on a star after his magnificent performance in a 3-0 win vs Liverpool
Manchester City fans lavished praise on star midfielder Elliot Anderson after his stellar display led the Cityzens to a 3-0 win over Liverpool in a hotly-contested Premier League encounter (Sunday, October 11).
After an impressive individual campaign in the 2025-26 season, Anderson played a crucial role in England's third-place finish at the FIFA World Cup earlier this summer. In the subsequent transfer window, City paid a then-British record transfer fee of £116 million to sign him from Nottingham Forest.
Anderson has already impressed under Enzo Maresca, playing a pivotal role in midfield in their 2026-27 campaign thus far. In the game against Liverpool, the 23-year-old had the most touches (100) and covered the most distance (11.5km) of any player on the pitch. He also completed 71 of his 78 passes (91%), won 11 of his 17 duels (65%) and assisted Jeremy Doku for Manchester City's second on the night (stats via FotMob).
After the full-time whistle, fans took to X to heap praise on Anderson. One fan wrote:
"Truly surrendered to Elliot Anderson. Absolute time-waster and master of this Manchester City midfield. To disrupt the play, to recover the ball, to make the game flow. He's always where he needs to be. Top."

Another claimed:
"Anderson has absolutely run it…comfortably the best English midfielder in the league."
A supporter remarked:
"Anderson best player on the pitch as usual."
Another asserted:
"Feel so sorry for people who don't understand what they're watching with Elliott Anderson. He's got the minerals."
One fan boldly claimed:
"Anderson the best to wear #5 since Zidane."
With their sixth win in as many league fixtures, Manchester City extended their perfect record to start the season and restored their three-point cushion over title rivals Arsenal.
"So proud of everyone" - Erling Haaland makes claim after Manchester City's thumping win vs Liverpool
Superstar forward Erling Haaland was ecstatic after leading Manchester City to a 3-0 win over Liverpool in a high-octane Premier League match-up (Sunday, October 11).
After an hour of goalless play, Reds midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the 62nd minute after receiving his second contentious yellow card of the game. Enzo Maresca's side made the numerical advantage count instantaneously, striking twice in six minutes through Haaland (65') and Jeremy Doku (68'). Ten minutes later (78'), Rayan Cherki applied the finishing touches to a comprehensive victory for the Sky Blues.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Haaland, who has bagged six goals in six EPL games this season, spoke highly of his team's spirit and determination. The 26-year-old said (via @centregoals on X):
"I think this is a lovely moment which will stay with us for a long time after the game. It was tough and it was hard, but again, we showed amazing character from Gigio (Donnarumma) all the way back to the front. I'm so proud of everyone."
Up next, Haaland and Manchester City will be seen in action in a mouth-watering Champions League clash against the two-time defending champions, Paris Saint-Germain (Wednesday, October 14).
