Despite the [Patriots](https://nesn.com/new-england-patriots)’ recent success, including a 45-17 Week 5 win over the Raiders, the team can improve. That includes at the receiver position. However, a potential trade target is off the board.
After a few days of speculation, the Cardinals traded Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Texans. Per [Adam Schefter](https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/2109379738561118320), the Cardinals got back a 2027 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
The Harrison trade gives the Patriots, a team riddled with injuries, limited options.
A.J. Brown is on IR due to a high ankle sprain. Meanwhile, Mack Hollins was just placed on IR with a calf injury. TreVeyon Henderson got taken out of the Raiders game following an ankle injury. The list of banged-up Patriots grows every week.
Despite the need for some backup, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald recently said on NESN's "Boston Has Entered the Chat" that the Patriots should stay put.
"Once A.J. Brown comes back from the high ankle sprain — I know that's still a few weeks away — and once Mack Hollins is 100 percent, then you've got a glut at that position again. So, I don't think it really makes sense to give up significant future resources for a short-term option," Kyed said.
Other trade targets for the Patriots, if they decide to go that route, include Jerry Jeudy and Sam LaPorta.
