CJ Stroud reveals how he helped Marvin Harrison Jr. get traded to Texans image

CJ Stroud's newest weapon is an old friend.

The Texans traded a second-round pick and a sixth-round pick for Marvin Harrison and a seventh-rounder.

Harrison, a first-round receiver with the Cardinals, will team up with Stroud who was his teammate in college at Ohio State (2021-2022).

That connection is more than a neat wrinkle of the trade. It actually might've played a part in getting Marv to Houston.

ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime reported some of the extra details behind the Marvin Harrison Jr. trade.

One of those details is that Stroud apparently vouched for his old teammate.

"I had some conversations with some different people," Stroud said. "Telling them who he is as a person, as a player, what I liked about him when I played. So, I thought our front office did a great job allowing me to be part of it."

When front offices put resources into players, it's not just about the on-field production. The Texans wanted to know Harrison's character and what he would bring to the locker room.

Sometimes teams will call an old coach but Houston had a unique source in their own quarterback.

Stroud spoke highly of his former running mate and the Texans took his recommendation at face value.

Harrison has five receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown in four games this season. Not what he, or the Cardinals, wanted to see to start the year.

He and the Texans hope they can play more like his days at Ohio State.

Stroud believes Harrison can do it.
