Jim Harbaugh held himself accountable for a fatal mistake that ended the Los Angeles Chargers' chances of getting a win against the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon.

Harbaugh has been the Chargers' head coach since 2024, going through his third season with the franchise. Following back-to-back years of playoff appearances, the veteran coach seems to have approached his biggest obstacle yet.

Los Angeles is winless five games into the season. They nearly got its first win against Denver, but they suffered a collapse in the fourth quarter as they progress through the season with no wins to show for it.

Harbaugh reflected on the loss after the game, per reporter Anthony Gharib. He cited a play during the fourth quarter where Los Angeles turned the ball over on downs. Justin Herbert got no yardage on his rush attempt despite only needing one yard, giving the ball back to Denver as they ultimately tied the game on the other side of the field.

“That was the wrong decision. I can’t think of a time where I’ve been more mad at myself. This team works so hard, played so valiantly. And yeah I take 100% accountability for making that decision and turned the momentum of the game. So, it was the wrong one. And I got to be right on those,” Harbaugh said.

How Jim Harbaugh, Chargers performed against Broncos

Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers will be kicking themselves for not making the right plays down the stretch to secure the win. Beating the Broncos could've changed the current trajectory, but they return to square one once again.

Justin Herbert continues going through the motions with his offensive struggles. He completed 14 out for 24 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown and an interception while rushing six times for 54 yards. Kimani Vidal led the run game with eight carries for 57 yards and a touchdown, while Charlie Kolar caught three passes for 37 yards.

The Chargers continue the search for their first win of the season. They go on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6 as kickoff commences on Oct. 18 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
