GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAW) - Jordan Love threw for 367 yards and the Green Bay Packers’ defense held Chicago scoreless into the second quarter as the Packers defeated the Bears 31-7 at Lambeau Field on Oct. 11.
Christian Watson and Matthew Golden combined for 266 passing yards. Watson caught two touchdown passes. Marshawn Lloyd scored two rushing touchdowns, the first two of his career.
Love settles into a rhythm
--------------------------
Love described the offense’s performance.
“It’s flow state you know, feels like you’re flowing out there. Just play after play we’re making those, and it just felt good to be able to do that at home. It’s something we just got to keep it rolling,” Love said.
LaFleur described a similar performance from Love.
“I thought he was in a flow state for sure. I mean, his performance was pretty spectacular. There was one sequence where we called three deep shots in a row. Putting the ball in play for our guys to make plays, and our guys were making plays. I think collectively I was pretty proud of the guys’ effort today,” LaFleur said.
Neither Love nor LaFleur commented specifically on the rivalry with Chicago. Love said it feels good to dominate a team in the NFC North.
Defense delivers a complete performance
---------------------------------------
The Bears did not score until the final minute of the second quarter.
Xavier McKinney intercepted two passes. TyRon Hopper intercepted one pass. Both of McKinney’s interceptions were followed by Packers touchdowns.
LaFleur said the defensive performance did not happen by accident.
“You know, what I’m so proud of, just watching these guys, it’s been a little rocky early on to start the season, and we haven’t played a real complete football game until today. But our guys approach it the right way in terms of wanting to come in the building with great energy; I mean that’s where it starts every day. You’ve got to come in with the right mindset. That is contagious for everybody,” LaFleur said.
Injury clouds the win
---------------------
LaFleur said defensive tackle Javon Hargrave’s injury is feared to be to his Achilles. He said it “doesn’t look good.”
The Packers next host the 2-3 Dallas Cowboys in a Sunday night game at Lambeau Field.
