Morgan Rogers says nobody should be surprised by Jordan Henderson’s new-found goalscoring touch - but they should be shocked by his Traitors-like behaviour.

Rogers brilliantly accused Henderson, Cole Palmer and Chelsea’s staff of plotting against him while he was away with England.

With his team-mates not involved in the latest Three Lions camp, he accused them of working on free-kick routines together while he was playing in the Nations League.

The betrayed Blues’ Faithful has now been given the elbow from the set-pieces, and it didn’t need a roundtable to find out why. Henderson, who had only scored twice in his four previous seasons, is the oldest Chelsea player ever to be directly involved in three goals in a Premier League match. The 36-year-old got the first and the last of his team’s five goals as Bournemouth were blown away.

But Rogers isn’t best pleased and said: “He’s got that ability from free-kicks. It was actually a thing they worked on last week before I got back.

“They all did it behind my back! When I got back [from international duty] I am off free-kicks all of a sudden. I wasn’t best pleased about that!

‌

“Jordan was fantastic. People honestly believe he is too old. Everyone in the dressing room knows he is the fittest player at the club. He’s a machine - people just think he is that experienced head, but the guy can still play football.

“He’s won everything in the game, you can see his quality. He knows how to score from distance. That’s why he is on the free-kick.”

Rogers scored his fourth in the Premier League already for Chelsea with a little help from Antonio Silva’s forehead, but he thinks the club’s former head coach Enzo Maresca got it wrong about five-goal Joao Pedro.

The new-Manchester City boss said he is not the type of player who could score 20 goals a season - but the Brazilian tops the goalscoring charts six games in.

‌

The forward added: “Maybe he has changed, maybe he has adapted from last season, I don’t know. But he is definitely a goalscorer in my eyes.

“His hunger to score and hunger to work for the team is massive. Especially for me, where I play. He always gives me an option and I can play off him and he can play off me.

“He’s a huge part of what we do, he’s relentless. He’s on top of his game right now.”

Chelsea have now scored in the opening seven minutes in five of their Premier League matches under Xabi Alonso and Rogers said: “I put it down to the managers’ team talks, he gets us firing and gets us going.

‌

“I’ve never been involved in anything like that before. It was a bit mad to score twice before the third minute. But that’s what you’ve got to do at home, you’ve got to get the crowd behind you. To start like that gives you a really good advantage.

“What can we do this season? The manager has been saying all week, we could still finish bottom or we could finish first. There’s not been enough games to determine what we can do.

“We want to improve, but we’re not looking up and we’re not looking down. It’s still really early in the season.

“I’m feeling really good within myself and I am pleased with my start at Chelsea for sure. The staff allow me to be me, but I’m really happy with how it is going.”
