Final nail in the coffin: Liverpool star's Anfield career surely over after Iraola decision…

Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat at home against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, and a decision from Andoni Iraola could signal the end of Federico Chiesa's time at the club in the near future.

There was a lot made of the game in the build-up to it due to the fact that it was Manchester City's first match since it was confirmed they were found guilty of the Premier League charges.

The atmosphere was intense at times, but Man City silenced them in the second half with a phenomenal end to the game.

Goals from Jeremy Doku, Rayan Cherki, and Erling Haaland secured all three points for the Manchester club, much to the joy of the supporters in the away end.

Iraola's side were disappointing in the end, perhaps due to the red card. There weren't many shocking individual performances from Liverpool, but an Iraola decision shows that it could be the end for Chiesa.

Liverpool had a number of different injuries in attack, with Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, and Dominik Szoboszlai all missing from the game against City.

Despite that, Chiesa couldn't get a start.

Florian Wirtz started in the number 10 role and was, once again, a major disappointment. It's been a similar story for Wirtz all season, but once again, Chiesa couldn't get a start.

Iraola had the option to start someone like Bradley Barcola in the striker position, but instead, he opted for someone like Lewis Koumas, who has minimal experience at Premier League level. Once again, despite that, Chiesa couldn't get a start.

It's clear to see that Chiesa is far down the pecking order at Liverpool, and his time at the club is surely over heading towards the January transfer window.

Iraola gave him just a handful of minutes

Despite Liverpool chasing the game against City, Iraola could only bring Chiesa on in the 88th minute. The Liverpool boss opted for youngster Rio Ngumoha ahead of him, as he's done regularly this season.

That was Chiesa's first set of minutes this season, due to injury, but he returned to full training during the international break.

This isn't something new, either. Chiesa made just one start in the Premier League last season, playing a total of 318 minutes.

It's time for Chiesa to move on, as he's clearly far down the pecking order at Anfield. The lack of minutes this season is understandable, but breaking down the number of players who are likely ahead of him, he has little to no chance of playing regularly, even when others are injured.
